Welcome to Off the Charts with Mike Loukas.
In this new interview series, Mike Loukas, CEO of TrueShares, sits down with leading investment professionals to dig into market trends, strategies, and insights you won’t hear anywhere else.
In this episode, Mike is joined by Jon Browne, portfolio manager at RiverNorth, to discuss the return of SPACs (Special Purpose Acquisition Companies).
SPACs hit a euphoria in 2020 and 2021 as they allowed retail investors to get involved in IPOs that were previously out of reach for them. But Jon argues they didn’t die after that euphoria, they merely normalized and are now at a healthy level. Year-to-date, there have been 89 SPAC IPOs raising over $18.5 billion in capital. He believes pre-merger SPACs offer one of the best risk return profiles out there.
So yes, SPACs are back, but maybe they never left.
